QR Codes

I have had a lot of teachers so far this year using QR codes more and more. QR codes are a great way to share more information with students in a quick and easy manner.  Here are a few examples of teachers that have used QR codes so far!

Mrs. Collins in 2nd grade  and Mrs. Grogan in Kindergarten are using QR codes to give students easy access to read aloud books during station time.

Our Spanish teachers, Ms. Szaragoza and Ms. Nieto, are using QR codes to give students a chance to learn more about famous Latinos.

2nd Graders Use Explain Everything

Second graders got their first taste of how AMAZING Explain Everything is!  With this being their first time using Explain Everything we kept it simple and just had the students take a picture of their already completed worksheet and then explain the worksheet using their voice and a tracking dot.  The students did a GREAT job with the app and I was amazed at how easily they figured it all out.  I am really looking forward to getting into more complex projects with them and showing them what Explain Everything can really do!  Take a look below at an example from one of the students!

Boot Camps Done…Now comes the fun stuff!

Now that boot camps for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade are complete I can start to spend time working on AWESOME projects with the students.

We have our Curriculum Night/Open House coming up next Thursday so I thought it would be great for parents to have some “how to” videos for the apps that their students will be using the most.

Then I thought it would be even better if I had KIDS create the videos!  So after sending out a mass email to all the 4th and 5th grade students I had a little over 20 kids volunteer to spend their recess time helping create the “how to” videos.

By connecting the iPads to MacBooks we were able to use Quicktime to record the iPad screens, which was a first for me and it worked great and the kids LOVED it.

Everything done in the videos was 100% students created, led, and produced.  You can look forward to learning about Explain Everything, Keynote, Book Creator, iMovie, and Popplet!

To hold you over until next Thursday here are some photos of the 4th and 5th graders hard at work!

Tech Tip Tuesday

It’s Tuesday so here is a quick tech tip that you can use with your iPads!

FIND IN PAGE ON SAFARI:

Safari has a “Find in Page” feature that is helpful for students who are looking for a certain word or section of a webpage. To do a search for words on the current page, click the address bar and type the word you are looking for.  Look under the “On This Page” at the bottom of the list and click the word to search the current page. If you don’t see this option, scroll down — it may be hidden by the keyboard.
